There is no reason to deny that winter can be harsh, especially for hair. Of course, to keep our strands in good condition, there are some tricks we should keep in mind.
It is all known that, hair tends to be dull, brittle and full of static. In addition to the negative effect brought by cold wind and dry air, the drying effects of indoor heat are blamed for striping moisture of our tresses.
Why our hair is prone to breakage, split ends and dryness? “The main reason is a loss of moisture,” reported WWJ Health Reporter Dr. Deanna Lites.
So, what can we do to get a head of stunning locks? The answer is a little tender loving hair care.
Speaking of hair care in winter, Alex Lekocaj, a stylist coming from Alex Emilio salon in Royal Oak, gave her suggestion.
He suggested not washing hair every day. “Less is more. Shampoo very second, every third day. Let the moisture stay in the hair,” said Lekocaj.
Opt for a moisturizing shampoo that is suitable for our hair type and apply a leave in conditioning cream on our dry hair in winter, then we can lock the moisture in our hair more or less.
A dryer sheet is suggested for our getting rid of static in hair.
Lekocaj said: “We’ ll grab the dry hair in small sections and basically rub the dryer sheet and it will reduce static electricity and weight the hair down a little bit.”
