In spit of the rainy weather in Los Angeles on Feb. 22, when the biggest event in film–the 87th Annual Academy Awards was held, stars still looked so charming feminine, such as Margot Robbie, Jennifer Aniston, Emma Stone, etc. Their hair was stunning and their makeup looked perfect. Is there any secret of keeping both the hair makeover and makeup in place? Of course there is. Well, let’s read what the stars’ glam squads talked about the styling methods, and learn to recreate those styles.
Margot Robbie’s Sexy Orange-Red Lip
Rocking a fantastic Saint Laurent dress, stunning blonde lob, and a crazy-sexy orange-red lip, surely the Focus actress turned heads the moment she stepped on the red carpet of the 2015 Oscars. According to her makeup artist Tyron Machhausen, the inspiration came from the old Hollywood glamour. “We were inspired by old Hollywood glamour,” he said. “it is the Oscars after all.” In terms of the orange-red color, Hourglass Ranoramic Long Wear Lip Pencil in Raven was used to line Robbie’s lips first, then Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick in Raven to top the lips.
Jennifer Aniston’s 30 Minutes Blowout
The “Friends” actress, Jennifer Aniston rocked an elegant Atelier Versace dress, sexy and stunning hair, and glamorous makeup. According to Chris McMillan, Living Proof hair pro, this hair makeover worked well in complementing Aniston’s gorgeous dress. “The inspiration was to be comfortable so that she could enjoy her time,” he said. He first washed Aniston’s hair using Living Proof No Frizz Shampoo and Conditioner, and then applied the brand’s Blowout at the roots. Before finishing with a few Satin Hair Serum to the ends to combat frizz, he blew out her hair with a slight side part.
Rosamund Pike’s Retro Hollywood Makeup
To complement Rosamund’s custom Givenchy dress, makeup artist Melanie Inglessis, for Make Up For Ever, went for “a classic beauty look like the iconic Grace Kelly.” First, she prepped damp skin with Sisley Hydra-Global Intense Anti-Aging Hydration. Next, she applied Make Up For Ever Step 1 Skin Equalizer Mattifying Primer and Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua. After that, she finished with Make Up For Ever HD Pressed Powder.
Dakota Johnson’s Simple, Sexy Ponytail
Dakota showed off a beautiful ponytail and gorgeous red dress at the 87th Annual Academy Awards. To create the youthful ponytail, Mark Townsend, Dove celebrity stylist, started with the Dove Refresh+Care Invigorating Dry Shampoo to add texture. After that, she styled her hair into a ponytail just above the bottom curve of her head. After securing the ponytail with an elastic, Townsend grabbed a small section of hair from the ponytail to wrap around the base of the pony and then pin to secure it, so as to hide the elastic. “I pulled a small amount of hair from the ponytail, wrapped it around the base to hide the elastic, and secured with bobby pins,” said Townsend.
Keira Knightley’s Flawless Waves
The Imitation Game actress stunned the night with the whimsical Valentino gown and romantic waves. To perfectly suit the gown, celeb hairstylist Ben Skervin opted for a soft style. For the stunning waves, Ben Skervin started with wet hair, twisting large sections and blow-drying each. Next, he used an oval-shaped curling iron to create loose waves, then sprayed with Fekkai Sheer Hold Hairspray and brushed through. After that, he finished with a Chanel fine jewelry headband. “I wrapped pieces of her hair around so you can see only a little peek of the diamond embellishment,” he said.
